I should preface this post by noting that, supporter of Blizzard fantasy titles though I may be, I base my affection upon one game, and it’s not Diablo; I have never played any of the Diablo games or expansions. As such I bring nothing to the proverbial mage-conjured refreshment table but an enduring love of spiffy looking games with pointy eared blood-gargling skanks and and long repressed, deep-seated desire to see some kind of awesome Gauntlet remake - wouldn’t that be cool?
Along comes the Blizzard Diablo 3 promo site. In I went, expecting to see something polished but ultimately unattractive, like a well put-together but hopelessly bulimic russian hooker. What I got was a sweet looking third person blood bath that looks, to me, like the ultimate super-extra-mega-blood update of the aforementioned hoary old arcade classic.
The videos are both magnificent, and the artwork section is well worth a look - it feels like what fantasy in video games should feel like. I strongly encourage you to go and poke around the site - it’s hard not to be intrigued.

Having played and enjoyed both of the previous Diablo games, I can’t help but be a little excited about D3. The first two games were frantic hack-and-slash fests against creepy monsters in often gruesome locales, and the straight-forward gameplay included plenty of Blizzard’s trademark Cool Backstory. The first time I ever got griefed online was playing Diablo 2 on battle.net!
I’m anxious to see where they go with Diablo 3.
Pros:
1. blood
2. developer
3. massive potential
Cons:
1. Will only be released in Q3, 2014
2. click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click click?
I took PHs advice and checked out the videos - good stuff. Unless I am sorely mistaken, the woman who narrates the cinematic trailer has worked on other Blizzard titles - she did voices for Night Elves in Warcraft 3 and World of Warcraft.
The gameplay vid was also neat, wiht gore a’plenty. It is very nice to see that the Barbarian is still a dual-wielding, frog-leaping massacre machine. I did get the distinct feeling, however, that Rusty’s prediction regarding mouse button use might come true.
