    I remember watching reruns of Get Smart when I was a kid; I actually wish I’d been a bit older, because so many of the jokes went right over my head. Still, it was hard not to love such excellent C.O.N.T.R.O.L. inventions as the shoe phone and the Cone of Silence.

    Steve Carrell is an excellent choice – he even looks a little like the original Max. I heard somewhere that there was talk of casting Jim Carrey in the title role. If that’s true, I’m glad they didn’t; I think Carrey would have been too over-the-top. Part of the fun is that Agent Smart is too dumb to know how dumb he is, and I think Carrell will be able to pull that off well. I’m looking forward to this one.

    I actually hope that he doesn’t do the voice - that would be automatic failure, I think, a case of an actor trying too hard. He’ll do better to make Max his own.
